If there was ever a reason to ensure a fully stocked bar, New Years Day is it. If your New Year’s Eve was family-friendly, keep the sparkle in your celebration with one of these breakfast or brunch cocktail recipes.

Breakfast or Brunch Cocktail Recipes

1. Mimosa

A classic for a reason, a mimosa in the morning is the double shot of the Cs you need (vitamin and champagne) to start, and sometimes end, your New Year’s Day off just right.

Opt for the best sparkling wine or Prosecco, the freshest juice – orange, pineapple, grapefruit – and you really can’t go wrong. Serve ice cold.

2. Orange Aperol Sun

Breakfast or brunch cocktail recipes don’t always have to be savoury or tart. Beautiful and sweet, this cocktail is a sunshine in a glass.

Ingredients (makes 2)

  • Ice cubes
  • 2 tbsps Aperol
  • 2 tbsps fresh orange juice
  • 1 750-ml bottle Prosecco
  • Thin orange slices (for garnish)

Set up two glasses. Pour a tablespoon of Aperol, and a tablespoon of orange juice in each. Top with Prosecco and garnish with an orange slice.

3. Beer Mimosa

A little less sweet than its champagne cousin, the beer mimosa is a perfect alternative for those who aren’t fans of the grape. Stick with a wheat beer (lighter is better) and try grapefruit juice instead of traditional OJ.

4. Bellini

Frozen but oh so beautiful, you can’t help but look classy sipping on a bellini. The classic version calls for frozen, pureed peach and sparkling wine. But you don’t have to stop there. Why not try strawberries, blueberries, even watermelon and cantaloupe?

The possibilities are endless. Heck, why not set up a bellini bar and get to mixing?

5. Red Snapper

Moooove over Bloody Caesar. It’s very likely that this predecessor to the Bloody Mary, the Red Snapper (which originated in Paris in the 1920s) is the gin-based libation you need in your cocktail rotation. And this spicy version is sure to light your fire.

Ingredients (makes 1)

  • 5 ice cubes
  • 1 can tomato juice
  • 2 oz dry gin
  • 2 tbsps fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tsps hot pepper sauce
  • 2 tsps Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp olive brine
  • 1 pinch ground cumin
  • 1 pinch hot chili powder
  • ¼ tsp celery salt
  • ¼ tsp fresh-ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp prepared horseradish

Garnish (optional)

  • 1 celery stalk
  • 1 small dill pickle
  • 2 stuffed green olives
  • 1 lemon wedge

Pour tomato juice, gin, lemon juice, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce over ice in a cocktail shaker and season. Cover and shake until shaker has frosted. Pour contents into 12 oz glass and garnish before serving.
