When it comes to occupying the kids during the (long) summer months, moms can get tired of fishing around for new ideas. Try diving into the interactive programs at Bow Habitat Station‘€”Calgary’€™s interpretive wetland centre.
Small fries connect with nature, exploring hands-on exhibits while learning about Alberta’€™s fish, wildlife, water and aquatic ecosystems. Start by touring the Fish Hatchery, before heading outside to tromp through the hiking trails and wetland areas. And who could say no to crawling through a beaver lodge?

Wonderful Wednesdays is where it’€™s at. Hour long programs are available the first Wednesday of every month for tykes ages 2 to 5. Pre-registration is required, so be sure to call one week in advance.

Want to explore on your own? Pick up a wetland discovery kit and meander through the marshes investigating with dip nets, buckets and a magnifying glass. Or rent your own fishing rod and cast a line in the catch-and-release trout pound.
