My culinary journey began at the age of 14 in my hometown of Hawkesbury, Ontario, and I’ve been hooked on cooking ever since! Just last November, I graduated from the Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute in Ottawa with a diploma in Superior Cuisine. My mom has always been an inspiration, not only because she is an amazing cook but because she has always insisted on sharing meals as a family.
Making dinner isn’t always as easy and simple as we’d like it to be so I’ve listed a few helpful tips that I like to live by:

Shopping, Done Right
Stock up your pantry with the right ingredients:

  • Bite-sized pasta like macaroni or shells
  • Canned tomatoes
  • A can of cream-of-anything (makes a quick creamy sauce)
  • Any type of rice
  • Block of cheese
  • All-purpose flour
  • Salad dressing (for salads, in stir-fries or even as a marinade)
  • Frozen vegetables
  • Canned salmon, tuna, crab, ham, or turkey
  • Butter, salt and pepper

Tight for Time

  • First, don’t panic! I call this the three C’s of cooking: Stay Cool, Calm and Collected!
  • Use ingredients that you have on hand. Toss together vegetables; mix in some canned tuna for a nutritious salad.
  • Use key ingredients like eggs and milk. Add a few vegetables and make a great omelette!
  • Choose easy and quick-to-make recipes.
