Eat, Sing, Dance
African drumming! Tulipan Hungarian dancers! The Croatian Folklore Ensemble and Bollywood for fun!
These intriguing events and a few dozen more are coming to you this weekend at Ottawa’€™s Carnival of Cultures.
Celebrating Ottawa’€™s vibrant and diverse community of international folk arts, Carnival of Cultures includes performers with music, dance and theatre shows by more than 500 artists. It’€™s a fun way to introduce your kids to art and food from other countries (and we don’€™t mean an American hot dog).
Kids will love the storytelling sessions and children’€™s corner. Make an early family evening of it and enjoy authentic international cuisine served up al fresco with a little Asian, Latin, Celtic or flamenco music and dancing on the side while the sun goes down.
Running this weekend (June 8 to 10), day passes are $10 and most performances and events take place at the Marion Dewar Plaza downtown on Laurier Ave. West.
If you’€™ve already got plans, don’€™t despair’€”the carnival will be back for Canada Day with performances downtown or check out one of these 6 Annual Summer Festivals in Ottawa.
