Together We Can Bake a Difference

Tie on your aprons, because it’s time to get baking.

For the second year in a row families, students and schools across Canada will participate in We Bake for Change, an initiative of WE Day, made possible in Canada by Robin Hood. Last year, young Canadians proved they know the recipe for positive change, as their individual and school bake sales raised more than $330,000 in support of Free The Children partner communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The icing on the cake? We Bake for Change helped those youth and students involved to gain more leadership skills, strengthen their organizational skills and improve their action-planning abilities.

You can also bake for change at home. Kids are encouraged to host their own bake sales in their communities. By coming together as a family to bake, you’ll not only create tasty treats and lasting memories with your own kids, but your bake sale funds will contribute to positive global change by supporting communities in developing countries and empowering them with the resources they need to build a better future for themselves. Not sure how to get started? Check out these tips before you bake and have your kids sign up to host a sale of their own.

This year Robin Hood is attempting to achieve the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the largest cookie mosaic at Evergreen Brick Works in an effort to raise awareness of We Bake for Change.

The cookie collage is designed to depict a map of the world, showcasing the areas where We Bake for Change has made a difference. Once complete, the cookie will measure more than 1,400 square feet and will be comprised of over 13,000 shortbread cookies. Toronto-area kids can be a part of GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS History at The Evergreen Brick Works on Family Day (February 15) by taking turns placing cookies on the mosaic in an effort to help the Robin Hood team reach their goal of breaking the world record.
