Vancouver has great outdoor pools to cool you down during the warm months. Here are the best ones to make a splash in this summer.
It’s hard to beat Kitsilano Pool on any day, in any city, all over the world. Adjacent to Kits Beach (so kids can play in the sand and the ocean if they tire of the pool) and on the edge of the ocean, Kitsilano Pool has a concession, slides, a small squirt park, and views of the North Shore mountains. Note the middle of the pool is lane swimming only, so keep your little fish within the buoys.
Second Beach Pool
Start your day with a hike on the trails and then hit Second Beach Pool in Stanley Park for the perfect summer outing. With animal-themed slides and a gradual entry, this heated pool is also perfectly positioned for an ocean breeze, but keep snacks covered or the seagulls may steal them.
New Brighton Pool
It’s not as popular as Kits or Second Beach, which makes the New Brighton Pool perfect if you want to avoid some of the mayhem. Still, it gets busy, so go early if it’s a hot day. It’s only a hop skip and a jump to Playland, if you really want to make their day.
Maple Grove Pool
For a shallow swim experience, check out Maple Grove Pool in Kerrisdale. Perfect for the toddler set, this pool features a middle island to swim for and plenty of picnic space. With live music every Friday night from 6:30-7:30 during the summer months, it’s a great place to end the week.
Load on the sunscreen and dive in.
