What’s Good for the Gander Is Great for the Slopes

Whistler Blackcomb Turkey Sale

Thanksgiving isn’t just about the turkey. For skiers and snowboarders, it’s the weekend to update equipment and slide into some new long underwear. The legendary Whistler Blackcomb Ski and Snowboard Turkey Sale and Swap runs October 7-10, and it’s the perfect time to outfit your little ski bunny for the mountains.

Before you go, haul out last year’s equipment and try everything on your children (including gloves and ski socks, making sure pairs are intact). Once armed with a list of what you need, you can face the notorious crowds and pandemonium. (Be strong, the deals are worth it.)

The sale starts Friday at noon, and is open to locals, pass holders, and EDGE card holders only on the first day—so this is the day to score the best brands in the sizes you need.

If driving to Whistler isn’t on your plate for Thanksgiving weekend, there are some deals to feast on in the city. Grouse Mountain also has a gear sale that’s worth checking out. The early bird gets both the deals and the size 8 boots you need.

While the turkey’s in the oven, retail stores like Comor and The Destination slash prices to compete with the Whistler event, so it’s worth ducking in to your neighbourhood shops. Good to know: fill your purse and pockets with snacks before you go, ski shopping takes longer than you think. The Destination also offers a seasonal rental program, where you can exchange your child’s gear as their skills improve…or if they grow six inches overnight. Believe us, stranger things have happened.

Shop the deals this weekend, and you’ll be ready to hit the slopes when the icing sugar falls.

There’s so much going on this month. Take in some super spooky fun wth these 3 Spook-tacular Halloween Events in Vancouver.
