6 of Our Favourite Podcasts by Women

Podcasts for Women

We recently asked our mom friends about one of our favourite topics: podcasts. What are they listening to? Why do they love them? What’s always on their playlist? And here’s what we found out: a lot of us moms love podcasts by fellow women and moms. They’re not necessarily about parenting, but all are relatable, interesting podcasts being created by some really cool women. So, we put together a list for you. Here are a few of our favourite podcasts by women right now.

This Mom Loves

This Mom Loves podcast is created and hosted by teacher, writer, and mom Kate Winn as a complement to her lifestyle blog of the same name. Each episode begins with some of Kate’s favourite things (like books, beauty products and tech items), followed by a lifestyle segment sharing info and advice (how to get to bed earlier, save money on bills, and organize your master closet, for example), with the main event of most episodes being a special guest interview. The great thing is, listeners leave every episode with a takeaway: a book they want to read, a lifestyle tip they want to try, or a piece of advice from one of the guests. | thismomloves.ca/podcasts

Forever 35

It’s referred to as “A podcast about the things we do to take care of ourselves” by two friends who love to text one another about serums. The hosts, Kate and Doree, chat about masks, serums, exercise, nutrition, meditation, anxiety, stress and much more. It covers a lot of great stuff, all with the central theme of age. | forever35podcast.com

This Girl Loves Sleep

This podcast is all about one of our most favourite things ever: sleep. In each episode, sleep expert Alanna McGinn answers your questions about sleep and provides you with tangible tips and tricks for your wee babies (and even for yourself). She covers topics such as self-soothing, when to start sleep training, routines and more. Cool thing to note: one of her latest episodes features an interview with Whitney Port (of The Hills fame) where they chat about motherhood and more. | Find it on Apple – itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/this-girl-loves-sleep Or on Android – subscribeonandroid.com/thisgirllovessleep

Peace Out

Peace Out is a collection of super cute short stories that help children ages 5 to 12 calm down and relax by guiding them through visualization, breathing exercises and movement. We love this one because it’s a perfect resource to teach children about their emotions and social skills while also teaching mindfulness and self-regulation. It’s narrated by Chanel Tsang (and her incredibly soothing voice). Interesting tidbit: Chanel works in a lab that researches social-emotional development in children and has practiced yoga for more than ten years. No wonder she’s so zen! |  bedtime.fm/peaceout

AnthroDish

AnthroDish is a weekly podcast about the connections between food, culture, and identity through an anthropological lens. Each week a new guest joins host Sarah Duignan to discuss a food-related topic that relates to their expertise or experience. For example, one of the latest episodes covers fermented foods and microbiome health. (Kombucha anyone?) The episode explores the history and reasons that cultures ferment their foods worldwide, the importance of fermentation for gut health, and the ways in which fermentation scenes compare and differ between North America and Europe. Fascinating stuff! | anthrodish.com

You Must Remember This

This storytelling podcast explores the secret, forgotten and often fascinating histories of Hollywood. The host, Karina Longworth, does a lot of research to give us the details on Old Hollywood history and pop culture—and if you’re into that kind of stuff, you’ll love this. | youmustrememberthispodcast.com
