The Victoria Day long weekend is just around the corner, and with an extra day to enjoy the sunshine comes plenty of fun to be had in and around Calgary. Whether you’re looking to check out a limited time event, or want to find something you can do again in the coming months, there are plenty of activities and events for the May long weekend in Calgary!

The Victoria Day long weekend marks the start of the season for many of Calgary’s most popular outdoor attractions. In addition to the opening of many of our city’s favourite theme parks, you won’t want to miss some of the other fun events taking place in the city this May long!

Heritage Park Opening Weekend |
Saturday May 18 from 10 am – 5 pm

Heritage Park is officially ushering in its 60th year, starting on Saturday May 18, 2024! To celebrate, they are offering a $60 membership package that gives you unlimited Park access during regular operating hours. Attractions inside include favourites like the steam train, the S.S. Moyie, Gasoline Alley Museum and the Alberta Bakery, as well as special events like Once Upon A Christmas, Festival of Quilts, Canada Day and the new 60th Birthday exhibit!

The Historical Village is open daily from Saturday May 18 to Monday Sept. 2, 2024 and then open on weekends only until Monday Oct. 14, 2024.

Skyline’s Downhill Karting Opening Weekend |

Adrenaline junkies won’t want to miss the opening weekend of Downhill Karting by Skyline Luge. This fun, fast-paced activity is perfect for everyone in your family! Ride the chairlift to the top, throw on a helmet, hop in your kart, and head down the hill for a ride covering over 1,800 metres including more than 50 twists and turns. Want to take things a little slower? No problem – the karts give you full control over your descent, so you can enjoy the track at your own speed. Tickets start at $30.

Saturday May 18 – Monday May 20 at 10 am – 7 pm

Star Wars: A New Hope In Concert |
Friday May 17 at 7:30 pm and Saturday May 18 at 1 and 7:30 pm

Have you got a Star Wars fanatic in your house? If so, you won’t want to miss the chance to catch the original 1977 film on the big screen with John Williams’ unforgettable score performed live by the Calgary Philharmonic. This concert is presented in partnership with the Calgary International Film Festival. Tickets start at $34.50.

Friday May 10 – Monday May 20 from 12-5pm at the Calgary Curling Club, 720 3rd Street NW.
