The best and the worst moments in life occur at your local hospital. It may be where you gave birth to your children, and it may also be where you said goodbye to a parent, friend, or loved one. Hospitals are there when you need them, and now Scarborough Health Network needs you.

The three hospitals under Scarborough Health Network—Birchmount, Centenary, and General—have all been pillars of care for decades, serving 25% of Toronto’s population. However, since their focus has been on the care of the community, they have not been able to accomplish major infrastructure upgrades, which is now creating a pressing need for support.

Did you know that Ontario hospitals, including those in the Scarborough Health Network, rely on donations to purchase 100% of all new medical equipment? In addition, hospitals are responsible for raising 10% of the funds required to pay for expensive infrastructure improvements. The operating rooms at these hospitals are the oldest in the province and are urgently in need of an upgrade.

This is where Toronto residents come in.

By supporting Scarborough Health Network through their Love, Scarborough campaign, Torontonians can contribute to the betterment of healthcare in their community. Donations will help upgrade the aging infrastructure and help the healthcare teams acquire the equipment they need to continue to deliver outstanding care.

Love, Scarborough is not just a campaign to raise money, it’s a rallying cry for the community. The initiative not only raises awareness of the challenges faced by SHN, but also highlights the incredible care the hospitals have been able to provide despite the obstacles.

Although Scarborough Health Network faces many challenges, they consistently demonstrate their ability to do more than anyone though possible with less than anyone could imagine. Now, imagine the possibilities with more support. Imagine Canada’s first no-wait Emergency Department, expanded diagnostic imaging to save more lives quicker, and mental health care that is easier and safer to access. All of this could be a reality if you donate today.

Thank you to Scarborough Health Network Foundation for sponsoring this post.
