7 Mother’s Day Gift Ideas for 2019

Mothers Day Gifts 2018

Let me start by saying I love Mother’s Day and everything that comes with it. The homemade cards. The crafts. The sloppy kisses and the breakfasts in bed. I don’t need anything other than time with my three healthy, happy kids. I really don’t.

But that doesn’t mean that I don’t also appreciate nice things. In addition to all the time and love and cute little things I get from my kids, sometimes I just want something new and maybe even pretty for myself—and Mother’s Day is the perfect occasion to get that.

If you’re looking for a gift for your Mom, or a Mom in your life, or even just want to get yourself a gift—here are a few things I love, want or think sound pretty cool.

Dermalogica skincare products

I was introduced to Dermalogica recently when I was given the Calm Water Gel—a really nice, weightless moisturizer. Since then, I have been drinking ALL the Dermalogica koolaid and am loving everything they have to offer. Their special kit for Mother’s Day—the Age Smart Anti-Aging Power Trio—includes their Daily Superfoliant (side note: LOVE this one!), their Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque, and Dynamic Skin. It’s a bit pricey at $83, but can you really put a price on skin that feels like butter??

Pretty things from Indigo

I am a sucker for Indigo. I have a wallet, their comfy reading socks, a pretty phone case, mugs, a planner—all from Indigo. I can’t be trusted when I enter the store. I’m thinking of grabbing myself a new bag like this one as well.

Dalcinci Stainless lunch containers

Now I’m getting fancy! Lunch containers for Mother’s Day!? However, I have to say that I love a good lunch container. And this selection has a bunch of great sizes, they’re easy to pack, hold a good amount of food and are dishwasher safe. Done and done. Prices range from $15 all the way up to $135, so they’re on the pricey side. But these are long-lasting containers for sure.

Sweary Mug

This is definitely not for everyone—and if I’ve offended you with this one, I sincerely apologize. But, holy sh!tballs, do I love this! How many times a day have I muttered this under my breath? Lots. That’s how many. This is perfect for moms with kids who can’t read yet—or for the moms who don’t give a flying unicorn f#%!.

Mom Journal

And we’re back to the sugary sweet again. I love the idea of this journal, because it’s hard for us Moms to write everything down and keep track of it all—and sometimes you don’t want to put it all in a caption on social media. This is a great way to remember something awesome that happened in your family—and it can be captured in one line a day. Perfect.

Essential Oil Diffuser

It’s a diffuser. It’s a humidifier. It has lots of pretty colours. What more are you looking for? Lovely smells and the power to clear the air when we’re sick (which, let’s face it, happens a lot with the wee kiddos.) We love it.

Mourning Has Broken

If you’re a fan of radio, you’ve heard of Erin Davis, the longtime host of Toronto’s 98.1 CHFI’s Morning Show. Now retired, fans know her as a best-selling author of Mourning Has Broken, her memoir about her career in broadcasting and life after the sudden death of her daughter, Lauren, who had just become a mother herself. It’s been on the Globe and Mail’s Best Seller list since February, and makes for a powerful gift for book lovers this Mother’s Day. Davis shares her own poignant story of motherly love, in hopes of helping others seeking solace. Raw and honest, this is about a mother’s love and devastating loss, and illuminates the meaning of what it is to be human.
