Some Parks and Rec

Already running out of things to do with the kids? Try kicking it old school and take them to the park.
Hog’s Back Park has been an Ottawa landmark since the 1950s, hosting all kinds of natural attractions including thunderous waterfalls, beautiful scenery and now, some convenient Tex-Mex food.

The falls are the main attraction, and children love walking through the many paths for close-up views. Getting splashed by the gushing water is quite common and is part of the fun (so be prepared). Hog’s Back Falls are connected to Mooney’s Bay, and just a short walk across the street will take you to the beach area with play structures, little bridges, and beautiful views. A perfect spot for the kids.

One of the attractions of Hog’s Back Park is the infamous giant ‘€˜umbrella,’€™ where families can relax in the shade, enjoy a picnic lunch and take cover in case of a sudden rain storm.

New this year is the opening of the Lone Star cantina. You can enjoy some chips and salsa or cool down with an ice cream treat at one of the picnic tables after all of your adventures.

Who needs to go all the way to Niagara when you can staycation in your own city at Hog’€™s Back Park or get away to one of these 5 Parks in Ottawa?
