Some Island Frolic(k)

This summer, we suggest you venture off the beaten path and take in Frolick’s Adventures in Slumberland at Toronto Island’s hidden gem, The Lagoon Theatre.
From Wednesday to Sunday until August 26, hop on a ferry and catch a performance that’s out of this world (or at least feels like it). Adapted from Winsor McCay’s turn-of-the-century comic strip Little Nemo in Slumberland, and presented by enchantingly creative theatre company Frolick, Adventures in Slumberland offers an Alice-in-Wonderland-type feel with circus-like puppetry, magnificent masks and a soundtrack that’s catchy enough for everyone in the family to appreciate.
The producers had short attention spans in mind when they created the play in four half-hour segments’perfect for small kids (and small bladders). We love the daytime-only show times, with the last performance beginning at 2:15 pm. There’s still time for a picnic, a trip to the beach or a visit to the island amusement park.
So take them on a boat ride, an island adventure and some outdoor theatrical fun.
There’s still so much to do this summer, including going to one of these 5 Outdoor Theatres in Toronto.
