Frozen Gold (Medal)

If we all scream for ice cream, what will we do for the world’€™s best gelato?
Summer, when the sun reflects off the snow-capped mountains that surround the ocean that gently laps our sandy beaches, is why we endure the months of rain. But the country has another reason to envy us now’€”Bella Gelateria was crowned the Gold Medal Winner at the 2012 Florence Gelato Festival, beating a lot of Italians at their own game.

Easily mistaken for another coffee shop (they do serve beautiful Italian coffees), Bella Gelateria serves perfection in a cone.

Starting with Avalon organic whole milk, the gelato chefs add the freshest, finest quality ingredients, including macadamia nuts from Maui, Magaro chocolate from Madagascar, Sorrento Italian lemons and honey from our own Westham Island Apiary.

With 24 exquisite flavours handcrafted in the gleaming white Laboratorio daily, we had to do a three scoop taste test’€”Dulce de Leche, Vanilla Bean and Espresso’€”and deemed it a tasty trifecta for the taste buds. This gelato is soft and silky textured, creamy yet light, with the perfect touch of sweetness.

And proprietor James Coleridge says that if you park two blocks away, the confection is calorie free! While we’€™re not sure we believe him, at 7% fat a second scoop is not out of the question!
