Nurture Nature Naturally

kidwithbird_vancouver

A rainy winter in Vancouver doesn’€™t exactly foster a love of nature for us locals. So we are thankful for the Soaring Eagle Nature School.
Whether you sign your child up for their monthly youth program in Pacific Spirit Park, Delta Watershed Park and Mount Seymour’€™s Lower Conservation Reserve or join their weekend family program in Pacific Spirit Park, your kids will win. They’ll enjoy being out in the elements and they’ll learn lots about the forest’€”from birding and plant identification to living off the land, survival skills and co-existing with nature.

It’s a great way to build a love for the great outdoors, experience natural play and get dirty, all while learning basic problem solving skills, experiencing team building and deepening their sense of community, respect and sense of place. The instructors are all well-educated, have a long resume of outdoor pursuits and, most importantly, they are also amazing at relating their love of the wilderness to kids.

Soaring Eagle Nature School also runs half-day and full-day summer camps and hosts birthday parties in the forest for those who would like to camouflage themselves and learn to move like a ninja.

So, nature deficit be gone’€”one more thing crossed off that ever-growing list of parenting concerns.
