Vancouver: The Savvy Guide to March

SavvyMom March 7, 2017

We’re not sure what St. Patrick would say about sharing March with National Nutrition Month, but we’€™ve got some tips on how to make the most out of March.
Promote healthy eating in your home and school for Nutrition Month
Why? Because it’s our kids’ lives that are at stake. Share the information with friends and teachers and try out some new recipes at home.

See Carousel Theatre’s production of A Year with Frog and Toad at the Waterfront Theatre from March 3 to April 8
Why? Little kids will adore joining Arnold Lobel’s beloved characters Frog and Toad as they head through four seasons of adventures, singing and dancing all the way. There are even special performances for infants and toddlers’so hop at the chance to check it out.

Prepared for your Spring Break
Why? Because you don’t want Spring Break to be your new ‘Spring Breakdown’. If you’re staying in town, make a plan. If you’re travelling, check out these must-have items (and we’ve got more to come).

Your favourite music and dance to it with your kids
Why? It can’t be all kids’ music all the time. Start influencing their musical tastes—it will help with future family car trips.

The Vancouver Prostate Centre at VGH by joining in Harry’s Spring Run-Off on March 25
Why? Aside from the 8K run at 10 am, there’s a 500m Children’s Run at 11 am (so kids 5 to 13 can support the cause as well), making it a true family event in support of a worthy cause.

Tim O’Toole and the Wee Folk by Gerald McDermott
Why? Because it’s great to be Irish—even just for a day.

Why? Because it’s educational and promotes fun physical activity (and we love it when the two collide).

Why? Because when you need to deal with one of life’s little emergencies (or something bigger), Ayoudo can connect you to trusted people in your community who can help.

On March 17, channel your inner Kermit—wear green, eat green, make green crafts—get the picture?
Why? Because we thought it would be more fun to include this tip than a greener ‘green’ one this month. Just remember to think about the environment while you’re being green.

Rainbow Juice Jigglers
Why? While we can’t always promise there’s a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow, we can at least enjoy the rainbow itself, and these adorable jigglers make for a great treat on St. Patrick’s Day.
