Burger Brilliance

When it comes to yummy summer burgers, we’€™re all about the ‘€˜Boogie’€™ man.
If you haven’€™t had the chance to stop by Boogie’€™s Burgers yet, then make sure to add it to your summer food destination list.

Located on Edmonton Trail just south of 16th Avenue NE, the diner’€™s been an institution in Calgary since 1969, but don’€™t expect the decor to match its age. The bright yellow chairs and cozy tables are family friendly (there’€™s room inside for stroller maneuverability if necessary’€”a definite plus). Highchairs are available, as are stickers and other fun activities for the kids (you’€™ll be hard pressed to give up your turn at the vintage video game tables and consoles) and al fresco dining at one of their outdoor green picnic tables.

What truly makes Boogie’€™s worth a visit is its signature burgers. These melt-in-your-mouth patties come with a variety of topping choices including their signature red sauce, fresh veggies, cheeses, fried egg, or the more adventurous pickled beets or Doritos. Unlike many burgers that are fat and tall, these thin and wide burgers are great for little and big hands alike. We love that when cut in half, one single patty burger can satisfy two hungry toddlers. Fries are ordered separately and served in abundance (one order is enough for the whole family).

Then there are the milkshakes. Choose from 27 options, including exotic flavours such as macaroon and creamsicle, or wild versions such as the Angry Aztec (chocolate, cayenne pepper and cinnamon), and the Fat Elvis (peanut butter, banana and bacon).

So ‘€˜boogie’€™ on up Edmonton Trail with the kids this summer for an old world burger joint offering up lots of wild choices.

Or ‘€˜boogie’€™ on over to any of these 13 Family Friendly Dining Spots in Calgary.
