Sidle up to the coffee bar. Grab a gossip mag and kick back. Let your kids run wild (or at least skip enthusiastically). Sound a bit like a commercial that leaves you saying “as if”? Not at The Urban Treehouse Playcentres, our fave new hang out for mommies in the Calgary area.
The Urban Treehouse is the latest indoor play place to hit the Calgary scene…or…rather…the Airdrie scene and it’s well worth a visit.

The Urban Treehouse is bright, colourful and open so you can watch your kids take on tasks ranging from sculpting play dough to monkey play on the indoor treehouse. One of the highlights is the stylishly designed slate fishing hole.

It is run by savvy moms Jennifer Jurkowski and Lisa Sierra and is designed for kids aged 0 – 7 with an emphasis on preschoolers. This creates a safe environment for smaller kids and takes the worry out of letting your younger children explore.

With that said, school-aged kids will still love to climb, paint or dress up—particularly if dad takes them Saturday morning. There is an unofficial daddy group that partakes in healthy play (and discounts to boot) every weekend while mom sleeps in.

The beauty of the Urban Treehouse is that you could literally grab your child and walk out the door with nothing but your wallet. (Might be why the dads like it so much!). They provide everything from diapers to a change of clothes (for the kids, not mom) to healthy goodies and coffee for tired caregivers. What isn’t complimentary is reasonably priced.

Daily drop in rates vary from free for infants to $8 for older children. Monthly passes are $32 for the first child and $15 for siblings.

Don’t like cleaning cake out of your new carpet? You can book your next birthday party there too.

So whether you live in downtown Cowtown or you’re on the outskirts, a trip to the Urban Treehouse is a must do.

The only downside we see is that your kids won’t want to leave. So make sure you have a good bribe for the car ride home.
