Spring Staycation

If Spring Break evokes images of bikini-clad teens frolicking in Florida, you may want to join us on a little rebranding campaign this spring. To us, Spring Break is merely a chance to break away from your regular routines for some quality family time sans activities, school and homework.

Here are some ideas for a fun and affordable spring stay-cation.

Take the C-train downtown and check out one (or a few) of Calgary’s tourist hot spots beginning with the Glenbow Museum. Try registering for the Discoveries Big and Small program for children aged four to 11. It runs four consecutive Fridays between 10 am and noon beginning March 20.

From there, take a walk to the Calgary Tower to test your (and the kids’) bravado on the glass floor. While revolving tower top restaurant Sky 360 looks a little fancy, we assure you it’s a good (and reasonable) choice for lunch with the school-aged crowd.

If your kids are Bananas for Books or love speaking Crazy Gibberish then these two story time programs designed for three to seven year olds and offered by the Calgary Public Library are for you. They are offered at various times and libraries throughout the city.
