Although it’s fun, not all kids want a birthday party at a play place where they run around, jump or scream loudly. For those creative kids looking to get hands-on while having fun with friends, we’re happy to share one of our best parenting tips: you can find an awesome birthday party experience at Michaels.
While the kids will enjoy being creative, parents will love that this birthday party is affordable, and Michaels staff can take care of most of the work. Sign us up!
Here’s What You Need to Know About Hosting a Birthday Party at Michaels
There are two options when deciding which type of party you want to have at Michaels. The first package includes all of the craft supplies for one of the ten themed packages, whereas the other option includes everything but the craft supplies which you will bring yourself.
Both packages offer different crafting options to choose from, typically segmented by age (and level of difficulty), as well as birthday invitations, the use of the party room and a staff member from Michaels who will help facilitate the crafting and all of the fun.
You also have the opportunity to bring in treats, cake, snacks and drinks to serve to your guests. Birthday parties are for children aged 4 and up.
The All-Inclusive Package
This is for up to 8 guests (more can be added for an additional fee of $10 each) and there are ten crafting themes to select from. Your children will love to go under the sea with a sea adventures craft theme and make seashell necklaces and photo frames—or the emoji theme includes the creation of an emoji book and bag.
Maybe your kids will prefer the slime-themed party where guests can create fun slime (every kid loves that right now!) and cute jars to keep it in.
Other themes we know will get your children’s attention: The Monster Mash, Enchanted Lands, Sea Treasures, and Robot Squad.
In addition, unicorns and llama-themed crafts are available for your pre-teens who have the option to paint on canvas, create a banner and more with these trendy creatures.
The all-inclusive package for 8 guests and the time in the party room is $120.
If you have a preferred craft theme or fewer attendees, you may want to register for the design-your-own-package party. For $50, you secure the party room and staff member assistance, but you are responsible for the craft supplies (although in some locations, we know the staff has been more than helpful to guide you through this process!) We love having this economical option, because you have more control over your supplies and if you do have leftovers, they easily can come home with you for future craft time.
For both options, you can also select to add on face painting for the kids for an additional fee.
One of the things we love about the Michaels Birthday Parties, in addition to all of the fun your children will have creating special crafts, is that the crafts themselves become the takeaways for all of your guests. These are better than traditional loot bags (though we still love great loot bag ideas!) because they created the items themselves and many have multiple uses.

Your child’s next birthday can be filled with creative exploration and hands-on fun. For more details about how to book your Michaels Birthday Party, visit your local store. The dates can book up quickly (as the party room is only offered during certain days of the week and times) but if you plan ahead, you’ll be happy at how easily (and affordable) the entire party is.
