Calgary is full of pumpkin spice and everything nice this October. With haunted houses, ghosts and ghouls galore, there’s definitely no shortage of spooky activities to get your fill of Halloween from now until October 31st. Whether you’re looking for the best places to get your scream on, are on the hunt for somewhere to decorate a pumpkin, or just want another chance to show off your costume, we’ve got a list of 10 spooktacular Halloween activities and 7 indoor spots to go trick-or-treating in Calgary this month.

17th Avenue Spook-Tacular

October 19th from 12-4 pm
Tomkins Park – 17 Ave. & 8 St. S.W


There’s a whole lotta spooky fun happening in Tomkins Park on October 19th! Families can enjoy face painting, a petting zoo, a DJ and live music, free ceramic painting for the first 50 visitors, a bouncy castle, games, trick-or-treating in the park, free coffee/tea and hot chocolate, giveaways, snacks, and more! There will also be a magic show from 12-1:45 pm, and a costume contest from 3-4 pm, so make sure you come in your Halloween best! Enter for your chance to win a box of Halloween treats and a $500 gift certificate to participating retailers on 17th Avenue.

Halloween Howl

October 19th. Race starts between 10:30 and 10:40 am.
Eau Claire Market – 200 Barclay Parade SW


Help fund support for diabetes research and raise awareness for the Alberta Diabetes Foundation at this spooktacular run. Choose a 3K, 5K, or 10K and register everyone in the family to join in this fun run for a great cause. Ghouls’ Night Out

If you’ve got Halloween-lovers between 3 and 9 years old who are looking for a safe and fun way to celebrate the spooky season, Heritage Park is the place you’re looking for! With trick-or-treating, a life-sized game of Operation, a live performance of A Toy’s Story, a Halloween Howl Dance Party, stories and crafts, a haunted funhouse and maze, games of chance and more, your little ghouls and goblins are sure to have a great time! Westbrook Mall Halloween Party

If you’re looking for somewhere to have your face painted and try some Halloween crafts, visit Westbrook Mall’s Centre Court between 1 and 4 on Saturday, October 26th. Don’t forget to get a 4×6 Halloween Photo by making a $2 donation to Cystic Fibrosis Canada!

Field Of Screams

Cobb’s Adventure Park – 1500 84 St NE

There’s something for everyone to check out at Field of Screams, located at Cobb’s Adventure Park. For scream-seekers, there are 6 haunted houses, rated by spookiness. There’s also blacklight mini-golf, a fence maze, a rope maze, pedal carts, rides, bouncy houses for younger kiddos, activities, food and drinks, and even a kangaroo petting zoo!

Ghosts of Fish Creek

Fish Creek Park – Tour begins outside of the Cookhouse in the Bow Valley Ranche Area
October 28 – 30 from 6:30 – 8 pm


With the new Ghostbusters movie filming in town, this is your chance to channel your inner Bill Murray and do some ghost hunting of your own. Join a tour of the Bow Valley Ranche area with a mug of hot chocolate as you learn about the ghosts who are rumoured to haunt the area. This family-friendly tour takes place primarily on paved pathways and covers less than 1 km. Halloween costumes and comfortable shoes are recommended!

Haunted Calgary

October 11 – November 2 from 6 – 10 pm (6 – 11 pm on October 25, 26 and 31)


Over 20,000 square feet of creepy characters, spooky sets and props await at Haunted Calgary, located in the New Horizons Mall. For the bravest members of your family twelve years and older, three themed haunted houses are ready to explore. If that doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, the Family Frights Thrill Zone has a tamer haunted house, bouncy castles, games and crafts to keep even the littlest boys and ghouls entertained. Reduced rate admission is available for families only wishing to check out the Family Frights Thrill Zone.

WinSports Grim Manor

Visit WinSport’s Grim Manor if you dare! Four spooky-themed haunted houses, live music by DJ QBERT & THE FRESH CREW, 5¢ Freakshow and Hank Pine & Lily Fawn, as well as performances by Ryan Stock and Amberlynn (a sideshow duo act from Season 11 of America’s Got Talent), are all on the roster at this super creepy event. While the Grim Manor Haunted House is only recommended for ghost hunters 13 and above, Grim’s Haunted Adventures: 3D is suitable for guests of all ages.

Places to Trick-Or-Treat on October 31st

If you’re looking for an alternative to outdoor trick-or-treating this year, there are quite a few options around Calgary.

Bass Pro Shop

Bass Pro Shop will have trick-or-treating from 4-8 pm and a costume parade at 6 pm.

851 64 Ave NE

Cabela’s will be hosting trick or treating between 4 – 8 pm and will also have crafts, a free Halloween photo, and costume parade starting at 6 pm.

Deerfoot City
901 64 Ave NE

Deerfoot City will have candy, music, a Halloween movie and pumpkin crafts between 12 and 3 pm.

North Hill Centre
1632 14 Ave NW

North Hill Centre has trick-or-treating between 4 and 5 pm.

SouthCentre Mall
100 Anderson Rd SE

SouthCentre has tons of Halloween fun from 5 – 9 pm. Movies, games and activities will be held in the Centre Court, and trick-or-treating starts at 5 pm until supplies last.

Sunridge Mall
2525 36 St NE

Sunridge Mall has trick-or-treating from 1- 4 pm as well as a 3D photo booth and princesses ready to take Halloween selfies!

Westbrook Mall
1200 37 St SW

Westbrook Mall will have trick-or-treating while supplies last, as well as a magic show at the play park between 2 and 6 pm.
