Curious Cooks

When it comes to teaching our kids about cooking, we’€™re all about letting them be curious’€”’€˜epicurious,’€™ that is.
Located in the northwest, Epicurious Kids Cookery was created by Michelle Friese, a mom who combined her teaching background with her passion for cooking. The open concept kitchen/studio is a perfect learning atmosphere for kids, allowing them to experience cooking from prep to clean-up. Epicurious Kids Cookery offers three different class levels: Sweet Peas (parented classes for ages 3 to 5), Honeybees (ages 5 to 7) and Growing Gourmets (8 to 13). Kids learn recipes such as Pumpkin Apple Soup, Lasagna Roll-Ups, Homemade Tortilla Quesadillas and more. Everything is made from scratch (including the salad dressings).

Sweet Pea classes allow parents to bond with their preschoolers as they prep meals together. The Honeybee and Growing Gourmet kids are put into groups of three or four, working together to create the meal of the day with two instructors to help guide the process. Everything from taking the stickers off vegetables before washing, to measuring and preparing ingredients, to cooking the meal (stove work is only for kids 8 and up), to cleaning up, is covered. All the junior cooks get to take home an individual portion of the full meal with the recipe to go.

For a taste of the experience, Epicurious Kids Cookery also offers one-off seasonal classes like learning to make Haunted Halloween Cake Pops. They also cater to the culinary birthday crowd with a pizza and cupcake party that includes making creative cupcakes from scratch, personal pizzas, chef hats to take home, party games and more.

Give your kids a taste of the kitchen, you’€™ll be satisfied with the results’€”as well as the results from these 7 After School Classes for Kids in Calgary.
