M is the Word

card

M is for Moms, but that’s not all. A few other ideas came to mind when contemplating the one day a year we celebrate all that moms do. So start with something that kids understand: take a tip from Sesame Street and make ‘M’ the official letter of Mother’s Day. (Oh, and go ahead, forward this to someone who loves you for inspiration this Sunday.)
Morning Meditation
The savvy definition of morning meditation is curling up in bed under a duvet with your eyes closed. Meditation should last a good hour past the usual wake time in complete silence. (Additional hours are welcome and accepted in homes everywhere.)

Marvellous Manicure
Let Mom rise from deep meditation AT HER LEISURE and then allow her the luxury of a manicure at her favourite spa with the certificate you bought her and left under the pillow (with the appointment already made, natch). If the stay at home pampering is more your style, dad and the kids can give mom a manicure with this simple recipe. Gently file nails with an emery board (make sure you ask Mom how she likes them to look). Soak mom’s hands in mild soapy water, exfoliate with a paste of olive oil & sugar from finger tip to elbow and moisturize with hand lotion.

Monitor a Migration
Get moving out the door to Fish Creek Park to watch thousands of hummingbirds make their way through Calgary. Mother’s Day coincides with their spring trek northward. Even if you don’t catch the birds’ flight, Fish Creek Park is a terrific way to spend time outdoors with family.
