Our Editor’s October Picks

October is a busy month for moms everywhere. As soon as you ditch the pumpkin, it’s time to get started on the holiday list. But before we deep dive into crazy time, we want to reflect on the month that has passed and make sure you didn’t miss anything.
The fall is a great time for food and we covered a lot last month. We served up some yummy squash recipes in this month’s Squash It edition of EatSavvy. We garnered a lot of attention from our article Don’t Be Nutty, which was all about finding decent nut-free snacks to send in the lunchbox (maybe you saw me on Breakfast Television discussing it with Dina last week). If your kids like Mexican, or you think they might, you should try Denise’s recipe for Taco Casserole—it’s a great make-ahead-meal for your busy weeknight dinners.

Our experts had a lot to say as well, with advice on Picky Eaters thanks to Alyson Schafer, Temper Tantrums from Doone Estey and Bullying from Ann Douglas.

And in case you really haven’t been paying attention…we announced the winner of the SavvyMom Mom Entrepreneur of the Year Award this month. Laura Berg, owner of My Smart Hands is the lucky winner this year. You can read more about her winning business or read more on the blogs where she talks about the benefits of using sign language with babies.

Finally—check out our survey if you haven’t already answered it. You’ll not only be entering to win one of five great prizes but you’ll actually be helping us to make SavvyMom better for you.

Because at the end of the day, that’s what we do. We’re here for you.
