St. Patrick’s Day is almost here, and while it’s not a holiday focused on gifts per se, there is a whole lot of potential for some green-themed fun. Add in the fact that St. Patrick’s Day falls on March Break, and it seem like a good time to break out the green and make some memories with crafts, toys and treats. So just because St. Patrick’s Day with kids is light on the green beer, that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. Be on the lookout for leprechauns and enjoy some silliness.
Sweet & Simple Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Kids
Peppa Pig: Peppa Loves St. Patrick’s Day
Did you know Peppa Pig loves St. Patrick’s Day? We didn’t, but what a fun read for the holiday. And what Peppa loves, our little ones love, so cue the shamrocks.
Leprechauns love St. Patrick’s Day and hiding their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. So we’re hanging the rainbow piñata and having some good energetic fun trying to break it open to get at the goodies we’ve tucked inside.
Gold-covered Chocolate Coins
And what’s at the end of the rainbow? Gold, of course. We think our kids will forgive us for it being chocolate instead of the real deal. Tuck these treats into the piñata or place them in a bowl for each kiddo to find.
Is clover the new “it” plant? We think so, and just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. The little ones will love making beautiful art with these minimalist clover stickers, or decorating letters and cell phone cases.
Green Kinetic Sand
Oh, we love this. Kinetic sand is so mouldable. It’s wonderfully tactile, and pleasingly squishable. And it’s just so green. Remember to take some photos of the emerald-hued creations.
Lucky Charms Cereal
Go ahead; break out the Lucky Charms cereal for a sweet treat for breakfast on St. Patrick’s Day with kids. You can even make Rice Krispie Squares but sub in some Lucky Charms for a themed snack. Psst – Lucky Charms comes in Original, Magical Unicorn, and Honey Clover varieties. How fun!

We love tempera paint because it is non-toxic and washable, and comes in lovely vibrant colours like this green perfect for St. Patrick’s Day paintings. Let’s roll out the paper, roll up our sleeves, and create a masterpiece.
Colour Paper Notebook
This gorgeous notebook even boasts little green pages inside – so what better place to chronicle the family’s St. Patrick’s Day fun and adventures? This is also the perfect keepsake for anyone into stationery – Midori is one of the best brands out there.
Stamping is such a satisfying activity and we think we absolutely don’t do it often enough. Don’t have any stamps? No problem – continue the Irish theme by carving into a raw potato (let the adults or older kids do this part) and using the potato as an-all natural, compostable stamp.
