Your mission today, if you choose to accept it, is to buy a thank you gift for your child’s teacher.
We all know that A is for Apple but when you want to get to the top of the class in the teacher’s gift department, get creative with a few of our favourite ideas that all fall into the under $25 range.
Crave Cupcakes arguably makes the best cupcakes in the world (or at least in Calgary). Wrap up a mixed dozen mini cupcakes for $17.95. Don’t forget to sample one yourself. The chocolate cupcake with vanilla icing (blue) is to die for.
Following the food trend, present the teacher with a home-made movie gift pack of easy to make microwave popcorn and movie rental gift certificates. Fill a brown paper bag with 1/2 a cup of popcorn kernels, fold over the top and write the cooking instructions on the outside along with a little message from the favourite student. Tie with your favourite ribbon. The instructions? Microwave for 2-3 minutes (time varies depending on microwave) then top with butter or salt if desired.
A great green alternative to traditional flowers for Teacher is a potted herb garden. Fill a terracotta pot with herbs like basil, cilantro, mint and lavender. Sunnyside Greenhouses is always a good bet.
