Back to (Halloween) Basics

OK, Halloween is not considered an official national holiday, but ask any kid what the most important days of the year are, and we can bet Halloween is one of them!
Lots of candy, lots of excitement and LOTS more decorating than we remember when we were kids. What ever happened to the good old Jack o’Lantern?

We think it’s time to bring back ‘Jack the Lad’, but get him in the full holiday spirit with a new face this year. Go back to basics and impress your neighbours (and your kids) with your artistic carving ability–even if you have to cheat (just a little) with a carving template.

There are sites like that will provide you with patterns so you can carve your pumpkin to perfection whether you prefer spooky (we like the Boo Eyes) or funny (try the Pirate Fish). The ambitious carver can even try their full layered designs.

If you like friendlier faces (Blue, Hello Kitty, Sponge Bob and Scooby Doo to be specific), tryDLTK’s Crafts for Kids.

Happy carving (and don’t forget to keep the good chocolate for yourself).
