Art in Nature

Close your eyes and imagine where you would write your novel. Where you might paint your masterpiece. Where you would compose your symphony. Are you picturing Tuscany? Bali?
Might we suggest Millarville?

The rolling hills just outside our city limits are home to many tree-lined winding roads, fields of green, snow-topped mountain vistas and The Leighton Art Centre.

The Leighton Art Centre sits on top of a hill in the foothills with almost 500 km of mountain views. The centre is both gallery and art school and offers camps for kids in the summer and school programs in the fall.

The popular Art and Nature camps still have space available the last week of July and first week of August for kids six and over looking for exposure to a variety of different art forms, including sketching, painting, sculpture and print and paper making.

While we suggest you visit the restored one-room school house to take in the stunning view at least once during your child’s visit, free busing is available from several locations in the city as far north as Crowfoot Way NW, making this camp accessible to working parents.

Leave Tuscany for another trip. Get (your kids) away from it all and encourage them to create their own masterpiece in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

And there’s even more for them to do this summer at one of these 13 Camps in Calgary.
