Short days, short month, short tempers (usually directed at short people in your family). It’s February.
Just because it gets dark early doesn’t mean you can put your kids to bed at 4:30 unfortunately. Here’s our Savvy Guide on how to get through the short dark month with a smile.

Enjoy the free festivities at the Calgary Winterfest Carnival on Saturday February 10, from 10 am – 4 pm at Fort Calgary.
Why? Your kids will love eating maple syrup candy (mmm, grownups too), tackling a treasure hunt and participating in games and crafts.

Outside in the snow, where else? Gather some spray bottles and fill with water and food colouring – then send the troops outdoors to create a snow masterpiece. Buckets and shovels (like at the beach) are fun to use too.
Why? Because you are only half way through the winter (sorry).

Your Valentine’s Day Cards and make a plan to get them done (with the kids if they are old enough).
Why? Staying up late on February 13th trying to find the nursery school class list and faking your kid’s scribbling is not so savvy!

Attend the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Go Red Gala on February 24th.
Why? Share a little lovin’. February is the quintessential time to open your heart to a worthy cause.

Don’t wait too long. February will be over soon—and we can’t say we’ll be S.A.D. about that.
