Last week while on vacation I decided to give my beloved cherries the same treatment that strawberries often receive in order to fancy them up a bit by dipping them in melted dark chocolate to create a seasonal sweet that didn’t require me to bake or stand in the kitchen for too long.
A few days later, when I returned home, I was flipping through Instagram and discovered my brilliant friend and Canadian Living test kitchen chef, Jenn, had thought to dip her cherries in chocolate as well. Only instead of sticking to the traditional darker chocolate she went and made hers with all three varieties of chocolate: white, milk, and dark. I told you she’s brilliant.
Naturally, I tried the same thing this week, and have declared these decadent dipped fruits my new go-to dessert for simple summer entertaining. A simple platter will certainly suffice during the warm weather months, but you could also serve them alongside small bowls of vanilla ice cream, or add them to a cheese platter for a post-dinner bite. They would also be great served with some bubbly for a ladies night in, or as is to the kids as a sweet afternoon snack.
