Toddler Tea Time

Mid-winter calls for a new activity and we’re thinking that means it’s high time for tea time.

It’s the perfect excuse to dress them up and teach proper manners in a fun way. Kids love the crust-free sandwiches and treats-on-a-tray, while you can sit back and enjoy watching someone else host toddler tea time. Plan a trip to one of our six favourite tea houses in town, but call ahead to nab one of their coveted tables, dress to impress and most importantly…‘pinkies up’ !

Xi Shi Lounge at the Shangri-La Hotel

Xi Shi Lounge at the Shangri-La
Tucked away like a little secret in Vancouver’s Shangri-La Hotel, the Xi Shi Lounge has the naughty-but-nice appeal of being a tea house by day and a swanky cocktail lounge by night. Live piano music accompanies the Asian inspired ‘grown ups’ tea service while children enjoy a unique menu including grilled cheese sandwiches, mini burgers and even warm chocolate belgian waffles. Want to know the best part? No one will bat an eye if you choose to pair your tea service with a flute of Blue Mountain sparkling instead of a Rooibos. (Time for Tea!)

Butter Tea Room

Butter Tea Room
When the popular West Side bakery ‘Butter’ needed to move to a larger space, they had the wonderful idea of converting their original location into a tea room. The beautifully decorated space is home to a kid-friendly afternoon tea service that includes kid-sized sandwiches, yummy cupcakes, their famous homemade Oreo and a pot of tea or glass of milk. We warn you: it is very difficult to escape without some of their homemade pastel-hued marshmallows in hand! (Time for Tea!)
