No-Fail Shortcrust Pastry

The need may not arise that often, but having a no-fail shortcrust pastry recipe in your back pocket (figuratively speaking, of course) means no dessert or fancypants dinner entree is off limits.
This recipe is easy as pie (see what we did there) to whip up and can even be frozen for future use.

Makes 1 pastry crust
No-Fail Shortcrust Pastry Recipe:
You’ll Need
- 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 2 tsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, diced
- 4 tbsp ice water
Prep and Cook
- Place flour, granulated sugar, and salt in the bowl of a food processor and whirl to combine
- Add cold diced butter
Pulse on and off until crumbs form - With machine still running, add water through the spout, 1 tbsp at a time, until dough comes together (you may not need all the water)
- Gather dough in hands and flatten into a disc
Wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 min
