On the Road Again

eatsavvy_blog

My husband started a new job at the beginning of July, which completely altered our summer vacation plans. I’€™m not going to lie and say I wasn’€™t a tiny bit disappointed to learn that there would be no weeklong trips to New England, like we planned.
Instead, we had to adapt and quickly decided that in lieu of our traditional vacation, we would take several mini ones throughout July and August; weekend getaways that would see us both crossing the border and staying fairly close to home. This meant that we’€™re spending a lot of time road tripping which we love.

What I’€™m not as fond of is roadside food. Despite the fact that it isn’€™t healthy, I find it puts a huge dent in the food budget. So rather than filling up on vending machine villains and fast food fare, I pack a lot of munchies from home for on the road noshing.

This past weekend, we trekked to Cleveland, OH and I turned to the SavvyMom recipe database for inspiration for my packed snacks. I thought you might appreciate a few ideas for any upcoming road trips you have planned for your family.
