The Proverbial Traveller
Got plans to get out of Dodge yet? Whether it’s a ‘winter’s almost over but it seems like it will never end’ getaway or a ‘must visit Grandma for Easter’ trip’, we have a feeling that planes, trains or automobiles (or some combination thereof) are in your future.
A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step (packing of course). So take our proverbial advice and check out some of our old faves and new recommendations to make your travels more of a break this spring.
On a long journey, even a straw weighs heavy (never mind an exersaucer). So book your gear to be there when you arrive with baby equipment rentals from Wee Travel or One Tiny Suitcase who offer clean, safe brand-name baby equipment delivered right to your destination.

Just Teasing
Hey, mom, can I borrow the car?
If you’re like us, you dread the day those words are uttered. Enjoy this stage of denial and laugh about it with a new line of t-shirts for kids by Babytease. We know there are a lot of great t-shirts out there for kids (and adults) but we think this one deserves an honourable mention. Developed by two savvy entrepreneurs, Neena Rahemtulla and Anne Jackson (mom to 3 year old Samara), the Babytease line consists of high quality and very comfy cotton clothing for babies and toddlers in a range of pastel and primary colours. But the ‘what we like’?

Blue Me Away
To take a page out of Kermit’s book, it’s not easy being blue.
We know because lately we’re not quite navy yet but we’re definitely feeling azure or even maybe aqua.
But according to our good doctor, Dr. Ariel Dalfen, MD, staff psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Hospital (Toronto), blue is a pretty common way to feel at this time of year.
Technically, the winter blues are a form of mild depression brought on by a decrease in exposure to sunlight as we move through autumn and winter. About 25% of people are affected by it and four times more women than men (so not fair) suffer from the winter blues (and its more severe counterpart, Seasonal Affective Disorder).

Littlest Treehouse on the Prairie
Sidle up to the coffee bar. Grab a gossip mag and kick back. Let your kids run wild (or at least skip enthusiastically). Sound a bit like a commercial that leaves you saying “as if”? Not at The Urban Treehouse, our fave new hang out for mommies in the Calgary area.
Homegrown Talent
Sometimes you feel like a little parenting advice could come in handy—but just a “little” help is not really on offer when you look at the parenting aisle of your local bookstore. We also know when you finally manage to get a few minutes to read, an advice-heavy book just can’t compete with the latest bestseller. (Or the check-out fodder of Brangelina’s latest exploits or Oprah’s 10 newest steps to a perfect life, for that matter.)
Head for the Hills
Aren’t you just loving those hint-of-spring colours showing up everywhere? Primroses and snowdrops are out and about, and you should be, too. Okay, technically it could still snow anytime, but we’ve discovered a destination point that will keep dispositions sunny even if the weather isn’t.
Bunch of Inspiration
Ever feel guilty that your kids know more about Dora than DaVinci or that they think Einstein is something you watch on TV, never mind about E=mc2? (Turn on your “time to worry” radar if they say they want to be Spongebob Squarepants when they grow up.)

Increased Consumption
Is it just us or has wine become a little more important in our lives since we entered into mommy-hood?…
